Daedalus shortlisted for two prestigious awards

Fareham Borough Council is celebrating the announcement that Solent Airport at Daedalus has been shortlisted for two South Coast Property Awards External Hyperlink (opens in new window).

The first award is 'Development of the Year', which recognises exciting new developments, that match industry standards and add value to the region.

The second is 'Business Park Innovation of the Year', which recognises the role the development plays in the region's economy and celebrates the ability of the developer, owner or management team to create a sustainable environment.

Since taking ownership of the airport in 2015, over £30m has been invested in providing a state-of-the-art engineering college, industry-leading office and workshop space within the Fareham Innovation Centre as well as bespoke industrial units and 11 new hangars for business and general aviation use, unique to the south coast.

We have also created employment opportunities for local people, by securing around 600 jobs of the 3,500 target for the Solent Enterprise Zone.

As well as this, proposals have been  agreed to deliver a nationally significant electricity infrastructure project, National Grid's Interconnector, IFA2, connecting the UK national grid to France.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward said: "I am delighted that we have been shortlisted for this award, as it highlights all of the hard work which we have put into making Solent Airport at Daedalus a success. We all have our fingers crossed for the award announcements."

The winners will be announced at a gala evening in July at the Hilton at Ageas Bowl, Southampton.
