Join in the woodland fun on National Play Day
Get ready for a day of outdoor fun in the forest with den building and campfire cooking as part of National Play Day in Fareham.
The family event at Holly Hill Woodland Park will take place on Wednesday 1 August and is part of hundreds of events nationwide taking place to celebrate the importance of play in children's lives.
Activities for children include:
- Den building
- Campfire cooking
- Making a bird feeder
- Stone decorating
- Music workshops
- Forest arts and crafts
The event from 10am to 2pm is for children aged 11 and under but adults must stay with children at all times. Tickets need to be booked in advance and cost £2 per child. Adults go free.
The activity day is part of a whole summer of events offered by the Council, all listed in the guide 'My Amazing Summer' which is available at libraries, schools and the Civic Offices. It can also be downloaded at www.fareham.gov.uk/summerguide.
Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Bell, said: "This is a great opportunity to get children outdoors, learning and having fun.
"Children can take home their own birdfeeder from the event to encourage wildlife into their own gardens. The woodland park is a great place for a picnic, so families can make a day of it."
Tickets can be booked from Ferneham Hall on 01329 231942, in person at the box office or online at www.fernehamhall.co.uk . Maximum 6 children per booking. Entry times will be phased.
