New play equipment for Titchfield Common children

New play equipment is being installed at a Titchfield Common play area and Fareham Borough Council want children to choose their favourite pieces.

Longacres play area will keep its main climbing unit and swings but some other equipment could be replaced by three of the following, depending on which items children select:

The play area could also be resurfaced along with new floor graphics and games, and the existing equipment will be re-painted.

An online poll has been set up at www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations for votes to be cast between Monday 23 September and Monday 21 October. People will also be able to give their views on how else they would like the play area to be improved.

As part of the consultation process, Council staff will be engaging with local schools, community centres and youth services which are closest to the play area.

The equipment is being upgraded as part of the Council’s five-year improvement plan for play areas across the borough and work is expected to begin around autumn 2020.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Bell, said: “We are pleased to be able to upgrade our play areas, so children have a place they can play outside to keep them active.

“We want children to help us decide what equipment they like, so it can be enjoyed by them and by children for generations to come.”
