Travel expenses

You may claim back travel expenses by sending an email to attaching receipts etc. If your interview requires an overnight stay, we will be pleased to make necessary arrangements for you.

Information to bring to an interview

If qualifications and/or a driving licence are a requirement of the post we will need to verify them so please bring with you original copies of your qualification certificates and/or your licence. We need to check that all applicants have the right to live and work in the UK so we will ask you to bring documents to prove this with you to interview.

Our selection process

As part of the selection process we may be asked to carry out a job related assessments or written exercise. Although you may feel apprehensive please do not be put off. Assessments are relevant to the job you have applied for and you will receive details in advance.


We try to make sure our recruitment process is fair for everyone. If you need any adjustments made to any part of the process please let us know. We make adjustments where appropriate on an individual basis to help everyone do their best.

Preparing for your interview

People usually feel a little nervous about attending an interview but by doing some preparation, you are more likely to be able to present your skills and experience well. The interview is an opportunity to show the interview panel that you have the skills, experience and ability to do the job and that you can successfully work within the Council and its culture.
