Registration has opened for this year's Access All Areas, which is a programme of free summer events for 11 – 17 year olds. This year, Fareham and Winchester Community Safety Partnerships have joined up to provide activities across the two areas.
All 11 – 17 years olds can register, as long as they live or go to school in Fareham or Winchester. The partnerships have also joined up with First and Stagecoach to offer free bus travel to and from events.
All people need to do is show a valid registration card. You can get a card by registering online at saferfareham or www.saferwinchester.co.uk
Chairman of the Fareham Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Trevor Cartwright said: "This is a great opportunity for young people to come and have a go at some fun activities for free, that they might not usually have the chance to do. They can come along to as many events as they like, whether they live in Fareham or Winchester, so there's no excuse for summer holiday boredom!"
Winchester City Council's Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, Cllr Mike Southgate said "Partnership working has been really important in getting this off the ground and we are delighted that we can work across authority as well as supporting the work of the Police & Crime Commissioner. However if it is to be a true success we need young people to come along and enjoy the experience".
The summer events will be held from 11am-3pm each day, kicking off on Monday 28 July and finishing on Wednesday 13 August. The grand finale 'Whestival' will take place from 5pm – 9pm and features Wave 105's Andy Jackson.
There are lots of great activities this year including quad biking, archery, scuba diving, laser quest, driving lessons, Music Fusion workshops, henna tattooing, hair chalking, gladiator jousting, assault course, crazy golf and much more. There will also be a free BBQ at all the events.
Fareham and Winchester Community Safety Partnerships will also be visiting schools in their area where young people will be able to register.
