11:00 - Sunday 18 March
The snow around the town centre paths and car parks in Fareham is currently being cleared and salted, but limited resources mean that other areas around the Borough will not be.
Priority areas such as sheltered housing schemes will be cleared tomorrow morning if the snow remains overnight.
All town centre Car parks are open.
'The Magic of Hollywood - Pasha Kovalev' show scheduled for 19:30 today at Ferneham Hall will still go ahead.
Any further information throughout the day will be posted on this website.
Fareham Borough Council has confirmed the appointment of 'One Community' to provide support for community and voluntary groups in Fareham and help lead the Council's new 'Big 3' initiative.
Seeking to build strength, capacity and opportunities to provide a vibrant community and voluntary sector in the Borough, the 'Big 3' will provide a focussed package of support for the benefit of local groups. It was developed following a county-wide consultation with community groups and specific focus areas were identified:
Earlier this year, for the first time, the service to provide support for community and voluntary groups in the Borough was put out to tender. Organisations were invited to submit proposals on how they would ensure the needs of local community groups and organisations could be met, within the resources available. They were also required to show how they would monitor performance and ensure funding was being used where it was needed most.
The submissions were evaluated by Officers and a Panel of Elected Members from both political groups who considered written proposals and a presentation from the organisations that had been shortlisted. 'One Community', a local registered charity with 38 years' experience in supporting and delivering community activities, achieved the highest score in the evaluation. The Company was duly awarded a two year contract that takes effect on 1 October 2015.
Councillor Sue Bell, Executive Member for Leisure & Community, says: 'We have a clear responsibility to ensure that any funding provided is targeted effectively and used efficiently. The community and voluntary organisations we have in Fareham do a superb job and, to enable them to continue, they deserve the very best support that we can give them. The tendering process attracted a lot of interest in this competitive market."
Community Action Fareham was the organisation previously funded by the Council to provide support to community organisations. The other services it provides, to which Fareham Borough Council contributes funding such as Dial a Ride, and Shopmobility, are not part of the tender and will continue to be funded.
The Council would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Community Action Fareham for the support they have provided to community groups and organisations over recent years and look forward to continuing to work with them on the services that continue to be funded.
