Fareham Borough Council is sad to report the death of Alderman Mike Godrich who passed away yesterday evening (Wednesday 5th September)
Mike Godrich was a Borough Councillor, representing Locks Heath for 19 consecutive years, from 1991 – May 2010, during which time he served as Mayor in 1995/96. He was admitted to the roll of Honorary Alderman on 29 July 2010.
Mike served on many of the Council’s committees and served as Chairman of the Audit Committee, Appeals Panel, Housing Review Panel and Procurement Sub- Committee.
As ward councillor for Locks Heath Alderman Mike Godrich represented the Borough on many local organisations concerned with the wellbeing of Fareham and its residents.
Executive Leader of the Council, Councillor Seán Woodward, said "I worked with Mike for many years and he devoted so much of his time to the community as a Councillor for Locks Heath and as Mayor of Fareham, which was the reason I was honoured to propose him as an Alderman in June 2010. He will be deeply missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Alderman Mrs Ruth Godrich and his family.”
