Following the decision not to replace the Hammond Hall Memorial Hall, Fareham Borough Councils commitment to allocate £215,000 towards the cost of the Hall was transferred to the renovation and improvement of the old wing of the Crofton Community Centre.
In August 2009, the newly refurbished wing was opened following significant improvements including; a new main roof and some other improvements to the smaller roofs. A heating system including a new boiler and ultra modern radiators. The ceilings were lowered and sound proofed between the ground and first floors. New toilets and baby changing facilities were installed on the ground and first floor and the wing was completely redecorated through - out.

The community facilities at Burridge recreation ground underwent a £350,000 refurbishment using money received from the sale of land at Yew Tree Drive, Whiteley for the provision of a doctor's surgery in 2008.
The site underwent a complete refurbishment, including; refurbished changing rooms, the installation of a new kitchen, the removal of the existing bar area to make space for an additional meeting room and a new fire alarm installed. The building was decorated internally and externally throughout and included new lighting and power systems.

Work on the new Portchester Community Centre began in early February at a special sod cutting ceremony, attended by Councillors, Trustees of Portchester Community Association and user groups.
The new community centre is an excellent result of partnership working between Fareham Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.
The new centre will be a fantastic facility for the people of Portchester and will include a new children's centre, provision for a pre-school, a large multi-purpose hall, meeting rooms and a kitchen.
Once the new community centre has been completed, the old building (located next to the new building) which has fallen into disrepair will be demolished and the site landscaped within 12 weeks.
The budget for the new community centre is £2M and is being jointly funded by Fareham Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.
