Congratulations to our runners-up:
Fareham in Bloom has been bringing our community together for over 25 years. It has grown into a well-known and successful gardening campaign involving residents throughout the Borough and encourages local communities to provide bright and colourful planting schemes.
Residents from all over the Borough submitted photographs of their outdoor spaces, big or small, after the competition opened in April.
Voting took place by 'liking' the photos on Facebook or emailing inbloom@fareham.gov.uk.
There were six categories.
Category |
Description |
Best Garden | A residential garden of any size, front or back. We encourage natural lawns as opposed to artificial grass. |
Commercial | Shop fronts, pubs, cafes, restaurants, businesses, schools, children's nurseries |
Something Small | Hanging baskets, window boxes, potted plants, small unusual garden features, a small area of your open space that you are proud of |
Community Floral Display | An area of open space within your road/street that the community looks after, community centres, sheltered housing grounds, care/retirement homes, outdoor communal areas |
Young Green Fingers (for 16 year olds and under) | Something the children have planted or grown, a unique area that they have created within an outdoor space |
Sustainable Garden | Planting to encourage wildlife, grow your own fruit and veg, allotments, recycling materials and using minimal resources |
The two entries receiving the highest number of votes in each category were visited by our judging panel on 11 August to decide the winners. The exception to this was the Something Small category, where the winner was determined on the basis of the photograph and description alone.
Public voting opened on Monday 17 July and closed on Monday 31 July at 10am.
The winners were announced in September.
The winner of each category, along with one guest, will be invited to a tea party in the Mayors Parlour on 26 October to receive their prize.
