Meet the new MayorThe new Mayor of Fareham, Mrs Cllr Hockley

The new Mayor of Fareham for 2016/17 has been appointed today following the Mayor Making ceremony at Ferneham Hall. Councillor Mrs Connie Hockley is now the Mayor of Fareham, and her husband Geoff is the Mayor's Consort.

This year, the Mayor will be supporting two charities which are Wessex Haven in Titchfield and Y Services for young people based in Locks Heath.

Wessex Haven provides personalised care and support to help people through the experience of breast cancer. Y Services, founded in 2011, provides youth work opportunities for young people.

Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Mrs Connie Hockley, said: "I am honoured and delighted to become the new Mayor of Fareham. I am really looking forward to meeting people out and about in the community, particularly young people. Being Mayor gives me a great opportunity to promote some really good causes and I'm especially looking forward to meeting the volunteers involved in my Mayoral charities and seeing how much we can raise for them."

The new Mayor's Cadet, Able Cadet Adam Pryce-Jones from Warsash Sea Cadets, has also been appointed for 2016/17.

Adam will take part in various duties to support the Mayor throughout the forthcoming year, including attending civic events, wreath bearing, church readings and assisting the Mayor's Attendants.
