Press Release

24 July 2014

Free summer events for 11-17 year olds

Access All Areas kicks off next week on Monday 28 July. The free summer events for 11-17 year olds will run each day for 3 weeks in the summer holidays from 11am-3pm. The finale, Whestival, will take place from 5pm – 9pm. Fareham and Winchester Community Safety Partnerships have joined up this year to provide activities across the two areas.

All 11 – 17 year olds can register, as long as they live or go to school in Fareham or Winchester.  The partnerships have also joined up with First and Stagecoach to offer free bus travel to and from events. All people need to do is show a valid registration card, which they will receive when they register. Young people can register on the day at any of the events.

At last year's events there was an 8.4% reduction in anti-social behaviour around Fareham compared to same time the year before.

Chairman of the Fareham Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Trevor Cartwright said: "These are a fun filled three weeks and allows young people to enjoy themselves in a safe environment. I'd encourage as many young people as possible to take part in these free activities."

Winchester City Council's Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, Cllr Mike Southgate said "I'm really pleased that as a partnership we are able to provide young people with a chance to participate in new experience's that are fun, free and exciting".
