On Bank Holidays bins are emptied on the usual day. There is no change over Bank Holiday weeks. Over Easter, all the May and the August Bank Holidays, bins will be emptied on the due day.
Please put your bin out on the edge of the public highway by 6am on the morning of your collection, or the evening before.
Bin days will change for the week after Christmas. Recycling collections will be on the normal day from Wednesday 3 January, and refuse from Thursday 4 January.
Please note: we collect one type of waste from your property each week. We will empty whichever bin is due that week.

Garden waste collections will stop on 22 December.
From Monday 8 January, garden waste collections resume for subscribers to the service in the east of the borough, on your recycling day. This will be from Monday 15 January in the west of the borough.
In early 2024, we will collect one Christmas tree free from all households. Between 8-19 January, on your normal recycling day only, one Christmas tree per property will be collected. It should be left whole, next to your recycling bin.
Outside this period, Christmas trees will only be collected by the garden waste collection service. Subscription to this service is required and trees must be broken up and placed in the garden waste bin. Sign up to our Clip and Collect garden waste subscription service here.
Find ways to store food , and use up leftovers , to reduce the amount of food in your bin, and save you money.
Please put paper, card, tins, cans, aerosols and plastic bottles in the blue lid recycling bin. Unfortunately no plastic other than bottles are accepted (no plastic pots, tubs, trays or packaging). Please put everything loose in the blue lid bin, not in bags.
Empty jars and bottles can go in the glass recycling banks around the Borough.
Clothes and textiles can be taken to the textile banks.
You can take excess refuse or other household items to a household waste recycling centre (HWRC). They are open every day except 25 and 26 December and 1 January, but you will need to book a slot to visit. If you have any queries about disposing of household rubbish please check our A - Z of waste, contact us on 01329 236100 or email at customerservicecentre@fareham.gov.uk.
