Bank Holiday collections

On Bank Holidays bins are emptied on the usual day. There is no change over Bank Holiday weeks. Over Easter, all the May and the August Bank Holidays, bins will be emptied on the due day.

Please put your bin out on the edge of the public highway by 6am on the morning of your collection, or the evening before.

Christmas 2026 bin collections

Information about Christmas 2026 bin collections will be available nearer the time.

Garden waste

Garden waste collections will be confirmed nearer Christmas.

Christmas trees

If you are subscribed to the Garden Waste Collection Service, kindly leave your tree whole and positioned next to your garden waste bin for collection in January on your usual garden waste collection day.

Subscription to this service is required and trees must be broken up and placed inside the garden waste bin. Sign up to our Clip and Collect garden waste subscription service here.

Food waste

Find ways to store food External Hyperlink (opens in new window), and use up leftovers External Hyperlink (opens in new window), to reduce the amount of food in your bin, and save you money.

Recycling

Please put paper, card, tins, cans, aerosols and plastic bottles in the blue lid recycling bin. Unfortunately no plastic other than bottles are accepted (no plastic pots, tubs, trays or packaging). Please put everything loose in the blue lid bin, not in bags.

Empty jars and bottles can go in the glass recycling banks around the Borough.

Clothes and textiles can be taken to the textile banks.

Household waste recycling centres (HWRC)

You can take excess refuse or other household items to a household waste recycling centre (HWRC). They are open every day except 25 and 26 December and 1 January, but you will need to book a slot to visit.
