Scaling and measuring drawings with FBC Scaler

Installing FBC Scaler

Please Note. FBC Scaler is built on Microsoft's Silverlight product, and may not be available on all browsers. Please see here for Microsoft's installation and compatibility page.

Using FBC Scaler

FBC Scaler is a simple tool for measuring and scaling dimensions on planning drawings.

1. Set the units

Select the 'Units' tab to the left of the drawing window. Select one of the unit radio buttons that match the units used on the drawing. (Meters in this case, as shown below.)

2. Set the scale

Select the 'Scale' tab to the left of the drawing window. Select one of the scale radio buttons that matches the scale used on the drawing. (1:100 in this case, as shown below.)

3. Measure the drawing

Click and hold your mouse button, dragging from your start to end point. A red line and dimension value will then be shown on the drawing. (see below)

Calibrating (optional)

To gain a little more accuracy, the scale can be calibrated.

To calibrate, first select the units as before, then measure a line against a known length on the drawing (E.g. The scale bar) and enter its value into the 'Calibrate' box show below as (5).

Next click the Calibrate button and the new scale value will be shown in the '1:Other' scale box as shown below.
