Help with garden maintenance and internal decorating for Council Tenants
Assisted Gardens scheme
If you are an elderly or disabled Council tenant, and neither you nor anyone living with you is able to maintain your garden, you may be eligible for assistance through our Assisted Gardens Scheme.
Under this scheme, our Streetscene Team will:
- Cut the grass in your front and back gardens using rotary mowing equipment
- Remove all grass cuttings
- Sweep and remove any grass cuttings that fall onto paths
Grass cutting takes place between March and November, approximately every 5 to 6 weeks, depending on weather conditions.
Hedges are cut twice a year:
- First cut: from July
- Second cut: from October, with work completed by December
This timetable helps protect wildlife by avoiding the early spring and peak summer bird nesting season
The scheme is intended to prevent gardens from becoming overgrown. It does not include:
- Weeding
- Pruning or cutting back shrubs and plants
- General garden maintenance
If these additional gardening services are required, you will need to make your own arrangements with a private gardener.
