Fareham Council Affordable Housing Delivery

Fareham Council is committed to using our own sites to continue to deliver a mix of Affordable Homes across the borough, and this includes both rented and Shared Ownership properties.

Rented housing will be allocated to households on the Council's housing register.

To register your interest in Shared Ownership Housing, we would encourage you join our Affordable Home Ownership Register using the link below. This will enable us to contact you with details about available properties as well as helping us to better understand the need for Shared Ownership properties in Fareham.

Affordable Home Ownership Register

In addition to this you can also visit the GOV.UK shared ownership homes webpage External Hyperlink, as this will give you details of all organisations that offer shared ownership homes in the Fareham Borough Council area.

Details regarding Fareham Council's Affordable Housing delivery and emerging projects can be found below:

Schemes in early stages

Former Scout Hut, Montefiore Drive, Sarisbury Green (Ophelia Court)

Fareham Housing secured planning permission to deliver 5x one bedroom flats and 4x two bedroom flats on this site.

The homes will all be made available for Shared Ownership.

Work on the site started in Autumn 2023 and it is expected that it will take between twelve and eighteen months for the homes to be fully built.

Please visit our Ophelia Court webpage for further details.

51 Bellfield, Fareham, PO14 4HZ

Fareham Housing secured planning in March 2023 for the erection of a detached 3 bedroom dwelling which will be made available for rent.

It is hoped that works will commence on site during Spring 24 with a build programme of around 8/10 months.

One of our key aims with this build will be to ensure that the home is energy efficient and helps minimise running costs for the tenants.

Assheton Court, Portchester

In January 2023, Fareham Housing secured planning permission for the redevelopment of Assheton Court in Portchester.

The existing 33 bed sheltered housing scheme has now been demolished and will be replaced with a new purpose built 60 bed affordable housing development for the over 55s.

As well as providing much needed affordable housing specifically for older persons, the new development will deliver high levels of energy efficiency to help mitigate the climate emergency and impact of soaring fuel prices.

Fareham Housing delivered 5 family homes on this site in July 2020.

The homes were split between 3 x two bedroom houses which were let at Affordable Rent level and 2 x three bedroom houses which were let at Social Rent level.

The Council were focussed on including measures to make the homes energy efficient for the occupants and lower their utility costs. As a result of this, the installation of solar panels on each property was included as part of the build project.

Fareham Housing secured planning permission in 2018 to deliver a scheme of 10x one bedroom flats and 8x two bedroom flats on this site. The flats were delivered in 2 phases with the first being completed in February 2021 and the second in July 2021.

A successful grant funding bid to Homes England for over £1.2M enabled all the homes to be made available at Social Rent levels and all the homes are now occupied by households from the Council's housing register.

Fareham Housing delivered 11 new affordable homes in March 2023.

All the homes were made available as shared ownership and were split as 2x one bedroom houses, 7x two bedroom houses and 2x three bedroom houses.

Located near to the seafront, the homes proved extremely popular and following the marketing period all the homes were reserved within a very short space of time.

The installation of solar panels on each home has made the homes more energy efficient and will help to lower the utility costs for the new owners.

Fareham Housing secured full planning consent to build 16 x age restricted sheltered housing apartments on this site and the scheme was fully complete in June 2023.

The sheltered housing apartments were divided between 12 x one bedroom and 4 x two bedrooms with some of the initial occupiers being tenants from nearby Assheton Court, which is due to be redeveloped soon.

Queens Road, Fareham

Fareham Housing secured planning permission to redevelop this site by delivering 2 x three bedroom homes which were to be made available for social rent.

Work on the site started in June 2022 and the homes were completed in May 2023.

The homes were designed to reflect the character of the area, with accessibility features such as wheelchair access. The new residents are benefiting from energy efficient homes, equipped with PV panels and air source heat pumps providing heating and hot water, contributing to the Council's commitment for carbon neutrality and deliver on the Housing Department's Greener Policy (2019).
