The Walk

From Wallington Village Hall car park turn right onto Broadcut. Follow this road until you reach a T junction. Here, almost opposite the end of Broadcut between two factories and running along the right of the industrial park, you will see a footpath heading north. Follow this footpath over the M27 then turn left and immediately right to head northwards along the boundary of a field.

When you reach a road follow it straight ahead for a short distance to a bend to the right, where you will find a footpath leading straight on between fields. (Short cut: Carefully follow the road round to the right until you reach a junction. Turn right at this junction which will lead you past Spurlings Farm on your left. Go through the metal gate across this track and continue straight ahead until you see a stile to the right, leading into a field. Follow the route diagonally across the fields until you find yourself next to the Wallington River once more. Follow the footbridge across and continue left along the path, through a meadow area to the right of the river. Head under the motorway and follow the path straight across a road and along the river, until you see a footbridge to your left. On your right you will see Wallington Village Hall and the car park).

Take this path and continue along it onto a track. After some distance along this track you will see a small patch of woods in front of you as the track curves to the right. Leave the track and follow the left hand edge of the patch of woods. On the far side the path cuts northwards across a field, just to the right of one of the pylons. Follow this sign posted path across another field until you reach the left hand corner of an expanse of woodland. Continue on the path along the left hand side of the woods, heading northwards over the fields when you reach the corner of the small woodland block. Follow this path along a field boundary until, hidden in the boundary to your left you will spot a way marker directing you to head over the fields to your right. Walk across the fields in a straight line for some distance until you reach a road, with Bere Farm immediately to your right. Turn right onto the road, leading round the side of Bere Farm and past paddocks.

Continue along this track, which twists and turns, straight past a rough agricultural bridge. The track becomes more and more rutted but if you continue along it for a short distance you will come across a wooden footbridge over the river to the left. Cross the footbridge and continue to the right to follow the route across the fields. Continue heading southwards across the meadows until you pass Spurlings Farm. Go through the metal gate across the track and continue straight ahead on to Spurlings Road. Follow this road until you see a stile to the right, leading into a field. Follow the route diagonally across the meadow until you find yourself next to the Wallington River once more. Follow the footbridge across and continue left along the path, through a meadow area to the right of the river. Head under the motorway next to the river. At the end of the path cross the road and bear slightly to the left, through a hedge in to a large meadow, keeping the river on your left hand side. Continue until you reach two footbridges at the end of the meadow. Take the right hand footbridge and follow the footpath between the river and a substantial metal fence. You will come across another footbridge to your left. Here, on your right, you will see Wallington Village Hall and the car park.
