The name 'Fareham Live' was chosen following a public consultation. More than 1000 people took part and almost half (49%) opted for 'Fareham Live'.
Fareham Borough Council appointed Neilcott Construction Limited to complete the construction of Fareham's new arts and entertainment venue, Fareham Live.
The initial strip-out of the auditorium, back of house, entrance and Octagon has allowed for the retained structure to be inspected, opened up and recorded.
All gas and electricity has been either isolated, capped off for future reinstatement, or prepared so that it can feed the building in its temporary state.
The structure and auditorium have now been opened up and demolition to the "Fly Tower" back of stage area is prepared for the piling to commence. The east elevation "Octagon" was dismantled.
Removal of the old kitchen and changing rooms has been completed, with removal of extensive mechanical and electrical equipment. The stage lighting and sound systems was dismantled by specialists, with the majority of this equipment being reused or repurposed either in the new scheme or elsewhere.
Design development has also been proceeding, with progression of the facade, roofing and detail designs. Within the auditorium the design of lighting has been developed to provide a striking enhancement to the new theatre.
Foundation piling, the process of inserting structural piles into the ground that will become the base of the building, is now complete at the stage end of the building and ground works are advancing nicely. The old projector room and studio to the front entrance have been dismantled, and we are preparing for the arrival of our 40-tonne piling rig to install the piles for the new foyer and entrance area.
The structural steel frame is nearing completion. This has incorporated the original auditorium structure while providing additional balcony seating on either side of the stage as well as increased capacity to the rear, increasing the total capacity from 500 to 800 seats. Below ground, the drainage, foundations and service ducting has been installed in preparation to receive services at a later date.
Following a detailed procurement process, Trafalgar Theatres has been selected as the new Operator for Fareham's new community, arts and entertainment venue Fareham Live.
An exclusive sponsorship opportunity, for 40 individuals and 30 businesses to become part of history. The Council has commissioned 'A Wave of Thanks', a permanent and bespoke piece of wall art for the foyer.
An impressive array of accessible features which will soon help to welcome residents and performers with disabilities to Fareham Live.
Fareham Live has always been designed to be fully compliant with Building Regulations in relation to the conservation of fuel and power. The Council has, however, gone above and beyond by not only installing 18 photo voltaic (solar) panels on the roof of the Flytower, but also installing four Air Source Heat Pumps to provide the heating and ventilation.
In addition, the building fabric has been upgraded to improve the insulation and reducing the demand for heating and cooling.
With the building exterior nearing completion, the final pieces of glass have been fitted, including the large single pane panels to the Studio. The "Fly Tower" is now clad and the roofing sealed in. This greatly enhances the feel of the building and allows us to continue with the internal finishing work ahead of final completion.
