Sufficient Land Available to Provide 5 Years' Worth of Housing Land

Why Does This Measure Matter?

This measure is important as the Government requires councils to show they have identified enough sites which are suitable, available and deliverable, to accommodate the number of homes required over a five year period. If a council cannot demonstrate five years’ worth of housing land supply, then the Council must take into account additional matters when making decisions on planning applications for new housing. Whilst Councils will normally publish their five year housing land supply position on an annual basis, they may be published more frequently.

Information About This Chart

The purpose of the 5 year housing land supply is to provide an indication of whether there are sufficient sites available to meet the housing requirement set out in adopted strategic policies for the next 5 years. For more information visit Five Year Housing Land Supply.
