Disruptions to waste and recycling collections

The garden waste collection service is operating as usual today.

20 August 2021

We are able to operate our garden waste collection rounds today for all properties due a collection except those where the smaller, narrow access vehicle is required.

19 August 2021

We are tentatively optimistic we might be able to resume our garden waste service to the majority of properties tomorrow – Friday 20 August – although we won't know for certain until the morning.

If you're due a garden waste collection tomorrow, then please put your garden waste bag out as usual.  If we can't run the service, we will update our website – please check .   

We know we don't have enough operators to run our smaller, restricted access vehicle so unfortunately, if you know your property is serviced by a smaller than average waste vehicle, we won't be able to get to you. 

Our garden waste service is likely to be affected by staff shortages in the coming weeks as a result of higher levels of sickness due to the pandemic so please do keep an eye out for updates. 

If your garden waste bag is not collected on the usual day you will need to take it to the local household waste & recycling centre yourself to dispose of it or wait for your next scheduled collection date in two weeks' time.  When the service is running, we will only be able to take one bag per household as this is the peak period for garden waste.

We apologise to our residents for any inconvenience caused.

Garden waste collection service suspended until further notice as a result of staff shortages caused by the pandemic.

Unfortunately all those due to have their garden waste collected will now have to wait until their next scheduled collection as priority is being given to retaining the core household waste and recycling collection rounds.

Residents will either need to take their garden waste to a recycling centre themselves or re-present it on the next collection date.

Unfortunately this is the busiest time of year for garden waste collection so, when rounds resume, it will still only be possible for one bag per property to be picked up.

We apologise to residents for the inconvenience caused.


Occasionally services are delayed. This might happen if roads are blocked by parked cars or roadworks. If a problem arises and your road is missed, please visit this page for information and updates.

All other services are currently operating as usual.
