Report a Fraud

If you have any concerns regarding fraud and corruption within or against Fareham Borough Council, then please contact us as below.

Any information you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence. You do not have to give your name, but it may increase the chances of a successful investigation if you do. We would ask that you provide us with as much information about the fraud as possible, as this will enable an effective investigation to be carried out.

Examples of concerns you may have are:

• Someone not resident at their council house or sub-letting their social housing property
• Someone applying to go on the housing waiting list who has lied about their circumstances
• Someone claiming a council tax discount or exemption fraudulently
• Someone claiming benefits as a single person when they have a partner living with them
• Someone using an altered or forged blue badge
• Someone misusing their resident's parking permit
• Someone who has obtained fraudulent grants to improve their home
• Dishonest behaviour by a member of staff or a council contractor

Complaint about the behaviour of a Councillor or employee

If you have a concern of any kind about a Councillor then please use the Member's Complaints Procedure.

If you have a concern about the behaviour of an employee, in respect of the quality of service they have delivered to you, then please use the Corporate Complaints procedure.

However, please use the corporate fraud online form below if you suspect an employee of fraud or dishonest conduct.

Victim of Fraud

If you think you have personally been a victim of fraud, then this should be reported to Report Fraud .   

If the Fraud involves use of your credit card, then this should be reported to the card provider / bank in the first instance, who should then report it to Report Fraud .

If the fraud involves a company operating in our local area, then please contact:

If you are approached by someone purporting to be an employee of Fareham Borough Council, please ask to see photo identification.

All of our officers carry photo ID and will introduce themselves and explain the reason for their visit.

If you are suspicious in any way, please call the Civic Offices Reception on 01329 236100 and we will be able to give you a description of the officer and confirm that the visit is legitimate.
