Fareham Borough Council has granted £4,999 to Lockswood Bowling Club to help replace their pavilion's canopy after it was destroyed in last winter's severe weather.
The club in Locks Heath received a Community Fund grant to put towards the total cost of replacing the old canopy with a new PVC conservatory.
The new structure will be used by spectators and to house social events for the clubs members, such as BBQ's, quiz nights and board game evenings.
Chairman of the Western Wards Community Action Team, Cllr Susan Bayford has said 'I am really pleased we have been able to help the Bowling Club as they have a healthy membership and also gets a lot of use through private hires. If anyone has a project they think deserves funding I recommend they apply.'
Any resident or organisation based in the Borough can apply to the Community Fund to pay for one off purchases. To find out more contact your local CAT Officer on 01329 236100, or email cats@fareham.gov.uk.
