We are just one week away from the spectacular free outdoor performance, which will see John the Winter Giant make his way through West Street, telling his heart-warming story.
The event is brought to Fareham residents in partnership with Westbury Manor Museum and Ashcroft Arts Centre, both run by Hampshire Cultural Trust. Annabel Cook, Head of Combined Arts at Hampshire Cultural Trust commented: "We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting new take on the Fareham Christmas light switch on. With hundreds of residents showing interest in the event – we can't wait to see the crowd's reaction when they see John the Giant and hear his story. It really does capture the spirit of Christmas."
The family -friendly fun starts at 4pm in West Street. Activities will include face painting, street entertainers, arts and crafts, the stilt walking Jack Frost band and we've even got reindeer! Festive refreshments will also be available.
John the Winter Giant will wake up at 5:30pm outside Westbury Manor Museum and begin his journey through Fareham Town Centre. Residents will follow our giant as he tells his story with lanterns and music. The finale will feature the Mayor and our Giant switching on the Christmas lights at 6:30pm.
After the light switch on, activities will continue at Westbury Manor until 7:30pm.
Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Bell says, "We hope to see lots of residents enjoying the free festivities, as we officially start the countdown to Christmas 2017."
