Local charity, One Community, has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to people living in the Fareham Borough with a 'Special Achievement Award'.
The Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Susan Bayford, presented the award to Sri Kandiah, Chairman of Trustees, at One Community.
Now in its 40th anniversary year, One Community offers practical help and advice and funding support to voluntary and community groups and organisations in Fareham. Earlier this year they received the 'Queen's Award for Voluntary Service' which is the highest accolade for voluntary groups in the UK.
Councillor Susan Bayford said: "I was delighted to be able to present One Community with this well-deserved award. They work tirelessly to improve the lives of those living in the Borough."
Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward, felt so strongly that 'One Community' should be rewarded for its exceptional work that he proposed to change Council policy to include this new award at the Council's Executive in July.
Now that this 'Special Achievement Award' has been approved, Fareham Borough Council will also be able to give the award to other exceptional groups and charitable organisations in the future.
