Titchfield to represent the South of England

Villagers in Titchfield are preparing to represent the South of England in the 2019 Britain in Bloom competition – a first for a village in the Fareham Borough.

Fareham Borough Council would like to wish the gardeners of Titchfield good luck as they showcase the village to the nation.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) picked Titchfield to feature in the ‘Large Village’ category and the judges will visit in August to see the village in full bloom. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the autumn.

Last year Titchfield won Gold at the South & South East in Bloom awards and the village has previously participated in the Fareham In Bloom awards.

The Council’s Fareham in Bloom competition will be launched soon, and residents are being encouraged to enter.

Entry is free to Fareham In Bloom and there is a wide selection of categories ranging from hanging baskets, small gardens, allotments, school gardening projects to gardens on business premises and sheltered accommodation.

Executive Member for Streetscene, Cllr Simon Martin, said: “We are delighted to hear Titchfield’s news and wish the village all the best for the competition.

“The team in Titchfield is so well organised and the whole village really pulls together to make it look absolutely amazing. We also look forward to welcoming entries to our own Fareham in Bloom competition very soon.”
