School’s out – reach for the summer guide

Are you wondering how to keep the children amused in the holidays? Then look no further than ‘My Amazing Summer’ – a guide to summer activities for youngsters.

Fareham Borough Council has published the summer guide which has a range of events and activities at Fareham and Holly Hill Leisure Centres, Westbury Manor, libraries and Ashcroft Arts Centre.

Thumbs Up Thursday is back at the podium in Fareham Town Centre with a different activity each week from a science workshop, arts and crafts, Lego building, a petting farm, bouncy castle and circus skills.

Play Ranger sessions for children aged 0 to 12 years will also run at venues across the Borough and libraries will run their annual Summer Reading Challenge.

National Play Day will take place on 7 August at Holly Hill Woodland Park with activities including forest arts and crafts, den building and stone decorating. Tickets cost £2 for children and need to be booked in advance from Ferneham Hall.

Access All Areas caters for 11 to 16-year-olds with free activities including giant inflatables, segways, sailing, a driving school (for 15 – 16-year-olds) and inflatable pool parties. Parents/guardians must register their child beforehand at www.fareham.gov.uk/aaa.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Sue Bell, said: “There is so much going on for children and young people over the summer holidays in Fareham and there’s even a handy calendar, so you don’t miss any events.

“We hope children enjoy the events and activities and make summer 2019 a holiday to remember.”

The guide will be available from the Civic Offices and will be distributed via schools. It can also be downloaded at www.fareham.gov.uk/summerguide.
