Tickets going fast for National Play Day

Parents, grandparents and carers are being urged to get their tickets for National Play Day, so children can enjoy a day of woodland activities.

A family event at Holly Hill Woodland Park has been organised by Fareham Borough Council on Wednesday 7 August from 10am to 2pm, as part of a series of events nationwide to celebrate the importance of play in children’s lives.

Activities include making your own bird feeder, clay pendants, animal masks, den building, stone decorating, woodland art, a music workshop and biscuit decorating.

Tickets cost £2 per child and adults go free and are on sale from the Ferneham Hall box office, online at www.fernehamhall.co.uk or by calling 01329 231942. Tickets must be booked in advance and cannot be bought on the day.

The event is for children aged under 11 and families are invited to bring along picnics. Children must be supervised at all times.

National Play Day is part of a whole summer of events offered by the Council, all listed in the guide ‘My Amazing Summer’ which is available at libraries, schools and the Civic Offices. It can also be downloaded at www.fareham.gov.uk/summerguide.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Sue Bell, said: “We have so many wonderful activities for children to take part in from den building to making your own bird feeder and lots of arts and crafts.

“It’s going to be a lovely day for all the family so remember to get your tickets in advance and bring your picnic along on the day.”

For more information about the National Play Day event please contact the Leisure Team on 01329 236100 or email leisure@fareham.gov.uk.
