Have your say on new play area

Children are being asked for their opinion on which pieces of play equipment they want to have in Clydesdale play area in Sarisbury.

The play area is being updated by Fareham Borough Council and parents are being asked to go online and get the younger generation to vote for their favourite pieces of new equipment.

Youngsters are being asked if they would like the existing trim trail at the Clydesdale Road to remain or replaced and if they do vote to remove the trim trail what play equipment they would like in its place.

Options include a climbing wall, toddler play house and an inclusive roundabout and a flat swing could also be replaced with a mirror swing. Families will also be able to give their comments and ideas as to how they would like to see the play area improved.

As part of the consultation process, Council staff will be engaging with local schools, community centres and youth services including Whiteley Primary School and Whiteley Community Centre, as they are closest to Clydesdale play area.

Votes can be cast at www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations between Monday 9 September to Monday 7 October.

The upgrading of equipment is part of the Council’s five-year improvement plan for play areas across the borough and work is expected to begin around autumn 2020.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Bell, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer children the chance to choose their new play equipment. We want as many children as possible to take part in this vote, so they get the equipment they want.

“Playing outdoors is so important for young children and this equipment will be used for generations to come.”
