Council to collect Christmas trees for recycling

Residents are being reminded they can put out their Christmas trees so they can be recycled for free in the Fareham Borough.

Trees should be placed alongside the blue top recycling bin on the scheduled collection day and will be collected by the green waste recycling service starting from Monday 13 January.

Operatives will collect one tree per property with a maximum trunk diameter of 10cm and householders are asked not to chop trees up.

Christmas tree collections are scheduled to start for the East of the Borough this week (starting 13 January) and in the West next week (starting 20 January). Check the collection calendar on the Council’s website if you are unsure of your recycling collection day.

Councillor Simon Martin, Executive Member for Streetscene for Fareham Borough Council, said: “I would encourage people to recycle their trees as a way of reducing the overall amount of waste and to be environmentally friendly.

“The Council is offering this service free of charge to residents so please do leave trees out with your recycling for the garden waste team to collect and we’ll do the rest.”
