Residents asked for views on new Local Plan

Residents are being reminded to come along to a public meeting and a pop-up exhibition to have their say on plans for future development in the Fareham Borough.

The Council is currently consulting on the new Local Plan and is holding a series of events to get people’s views on proposals.

A Local Plan Supplement document has been developed following the Issues and Options consultation held last summer. It sets out how the Council proposes meeting new national housing targets, identifying a small number of new housing sites and policies, as well as potential areas for strategic growth.

The first two Community Action Team (CAT) meetings will take place this month (January) from 6pm until 7.30pm with exhibitions held before meetings at the following venues from 5pm – 6pm:

In addition, a pop-up exhibition will take place in January at:

In February, public meetings will be held in Fareham, Stubbington and Portchester and pop-up exhibitions in Warsash, Wallington, Fareham and Titchfield. For a full list of dates and times please see http://www.fareham.gov.uk/planning/local_plan/catsjan2020.aspx

The consultation runs until midnight on Sunday 1 March and people can give their opinions by visiting www.fareham.gov.uk/localplanconsultation. Paper surveys are also available from libraries at Fareham, Locks Heath, Portchester and Stubbington, and from the Civic Offices.

Cllr Keith Evans, Executive Member for Planning and Development, said: ‘The Local Plan is so important for the future of the Borough, so we want to engage with as many people as possible to hear people’s views.”
