Press Release

8 June 2020

Skate parks open across the Borough

Skate parks across the Borough are set to reopen today, Monday 8 June. The decision follows changes to the Government’s lockdown rules and will enable the skate parks to be used for the first time since March.

Advice about how to use the skate parks safely has been produced by Skateboard England and Skateboard GB and will be on display at each location. Users are encouraged to maintain social distancing, avoid congregating in groups and only skate with members of their own household or up to five friends.

Cllr Simon Martin, Executive Member for Streetscene said: ‘It is good news that we are able to reopen our skate parks again; however, these are early days in the recovery period. I would urge parents and young people using our skate parks to take the time to read and follow the information on the signs.’

The Council would like to thank Blanchard Wells who secured the skate parks throughout the lockdown by installing Heras fencing at no charge.
