Nominate a volunteer for a special thank you

The Mayor of Fareham and the Leader of Fareham Borough Council have been busy saying a special ‘thank you’ to the Borough’s volunteers.

Letters of recognition are being sent out to hundreds of volunteers whose hard work has been a lifeline for residents in need during the pandemic.

We want to make sure no one is missed, so we’re asking members of the public to nominate a volunteer they know who deserves a thank you. This could be a friend, neighbour or family member; anyone who has provided help and support to make someone’s life easier during lockdown. There are so many ways that people have been helping others during this time, but examples of help include delivering daily essentials, collecting prescriptions or checking on someone vulnerable or isolating.

Nominations can be made by filling out the online form at www.fareham.gov.uk/thankavolunteer and nominees will receive a special letter of thanks from the Mayor and the Leader of the Council.

The Mayor of Fareham, Cllr Pamela Bryant, said:

“The fantastic response of local residents, stepping up to help those in need during this crisis, has been truly inspiring. We have already begun writing to the volunteers we have been working with, but there could be hundreds of others who also deserve a big thank you. If you know someone who has made this dark and difficult time brighter through their kindness, please nominate them so we can write them with our appreciation.”

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward said:

“Volunteers across the Borough have done so much during this crisis and we want each and every one of them to know that their commitment to help others has been appreciated. We have been so impressed by the community spirit shown by our residents, to help those struggling in these challenging times. If you know a volunteer who has made a difference, please nominate them so that they too can receive a special thank you.”
