Take it to the tip or face a fine

Fareham Borough Council is warning residents to dispose of their rubbish properly or face a fine.

There has been a big increase in cases of fly tipping and serious littering across the Borough.

In the last 2 months alone, the Council has issued fourteen fines or warnings for dumped rubbish. A further two cases are being taken to prosecution.

Hampshire’s Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) have now reopened with an appointment system in place. Appointments can be booked via Hampshire County Council’s website or Portsmouth City Council’s page for Paulsgrove HWRC.

Councillor Trevor Cartwright, Executive Member for Health and Public Protection at Fareham Borough Council, said:

“It’s very disappointing to see this increase in fly tipping and littering, it’s something which blights the Borough we all share. There is no excuse for it. My message to anyone who simply dumps their rubbish is that we take a zero-tolerance approach to this. Your actions put others in the community and our environment at risk and you will face a fine or court.”
