Press Release

26 April 2021

Rapid Community Testing moving to Local Pharmacies

For the past nine weeks, Fareham Borough Council has been working with Hampshire County Council to deliver a rapid community testing facility for Covid-19 at Fareham College.

This testing centre will close from this Friday 30 April as a more robust and permanent solution has been found. There are now 515 Pharmacies across Hampshire offering rapid community testing and some are also offering assisted testing. You can find the full list of pharmacies here: https://maps.test-and-trace.nhs.uk/

The Council would like to take this opportunity to thank Fareham College for accommodating the testing centre over the past nine weeks and also the charitable organisation, One Community, that supplied the fantastic volunteers who staffed the site.

The Government recommends that everyone without coronavirus symptoms should still test themselves for Covid-19 regularly. Pharmacy testing is for people with no coronavirus symptoms. Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, a high temperature, new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to their sense of smell or taste should not attend a pharmacy for testing, but instead book a test at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.

Tests at pharmacies should only be booked by people aged 16 and over. Secondary age children should continue to get their tests via their schools.
