Council welcomes latest development on Welborne

Fareham Borough Council has welcomed the decision by Hampshire County Council to act as Scheme Delivery Body for the M27 Junction 10 improvement scheme.  The decision was signed off at a meeting of the Cabinet on 13 July 2021.

This is a significant decision for Welborne and is one of the last elements required to enable the new Garden Village to become a reality.

Cllr Seán Woodward, Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: ‘We are delighted that Hampshire County Council has made this decision.  It is key to unlocking the funding that we have won for Junction 10 of the M27 and, in turn, the whole Welborne Garden Village development.

‘All parties have been working to find a solution to funding the M27 junction improvement, including Buckland Developments which has pledged up to £50M through revisions to their planning application, and the Government which has offered a Housing Infrastructure Grant of £42M along with Fareham Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.  This is an excellent example of partners working to bring forward much needed new homes, jobs, community facilities and major infrastructure.’

Fareham Borough Council’s Planning Committee will now consider the revised application on 23 July at 9:30am at the Civic Offices.
