Council extends grant scheme for local good causes

Fareham Borough Council is pleased to announce that its ‘Special Covid Grants’ scheme has been extended for charitable or voluntary organisations by an additional year.

Following the first Covid lockdown, the Council approved the allocation of £30,000 to provide small voluntary organisations with a one-off payment of £250. The focus of these grants was to reduce the financial burden posed by additional costs and lost income experienced because of the Covid restrictions.

While this funding was originally approved for the financial year of 2020/21, the Council has agreed to extend the scheme for a further year due to the continuing need for support by small organisations.

Charitable and voluntary groups that are experiencing financial difficulty can apply for the grant via a quick and easy online application which can be found on the Council’s website:

 Applications are open for groups which meet the following criteria:

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Sue Walker commented: “I am delighted that this grant scheme has been extended for an additional year and I would encourage the many charitable and voluntary groups in our community to apply if they have not done so already. Many groups out there are just beginning to think of returning to their ‘normal’ activities following the pandemic, so this small grant could make a big difference when getting back to ‘business as usual’.”
