Press Release

10 August 2021

Calling all classic car owners!

Do you have a vintage vehicle to be proud of?

Classic car owners are invited to join the Council’s Bygone Fareham event on 11 September.

Taking place between 10am and 4pm, the free day will see the vehicles displayed in West Street for visitors to admire. Any car aged 25 years or older is welcome to join the occasion. There will also be vintage style singing and dancing, children's activity craft boxes and speciality shopping.

Local groups South Hants Vehicle Preservation Society, Morris Minors Owners Club, Portsmouth and Southampton Mini Club and Solent Mini Club are already signed up and owners will be on hand to answer any questions about their vehicles.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Sue Walker, said:

“It is wonderful to welcome Bygone Fareham back this year. We were not able to hold the event last year due to the pandemic and so we want to make it bigger and better than ever this time.

It is always a very popular event in the Town Centre with something for everyone to enjoy. So, if you have a vintage vehicle you would like to show off get in touch with our Leisure team and join the display!”

Alongside Bygone Fareham, the Council is running events throughout the summer to encourage visitors to the town centre, such as the pop-up beach and family fun sessions at Westbury Manor Museum. Events like these help to increase footfall to Fareham Town Centre, giving an important boost to local trade.

For more information about Bygone Fareham and to register your vehicle, please call the Leisure Team on 01329 236100 or email leisure@fareham.gov.uk  Anyone who would like to register should contact the Council by Friday 27 August.
