Station Road Development Due to Commence in Portchester

Fareham Housing is pleased to announce that works are due to commence at its Station Road, Portchester development in December.

Fareham Housing secured full planning consent to build 16 sheltered housing apartments for older residents on this site, which will be divided between 12 one-bedroom and four two-bedrooms apartments.

Ascia Construction Ltd. will be building the development and it is expected to take between 12 and 18 months to complete. A number of the flats will be initially occupied by tenants from the nearby Assheton Court, which is due to be redeveloped.

The apartments will be let at an affordable rent for older persons on the Council’s Housing Register and every care has been taken to ensure that the design provides comfort for residents.

While the building will be owned and managed by Fareham Housing, a financial donation from the Randal Cremer Cottages Trust is helping towards the costs of this affordable housing project. This gesture will be reflected by naming the building ‘Sir Randal Cremer House’ after the charity’s Nobel Prize winning forebearer.

Executive Member for Housing at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Fred Birkett, said: “I am delighted that this development is commencing so soon as it will provide much needed sheltered housing for older residents across the Borough. Sir Randal Cremer House, once completed, will offer more quality homes for those who really need them.”
