Press Release

2 December 2021

Time to nominate your hero

Fareham residents are invited to nominate their heroes for public recognition as the Council launches its 2022 Citizen of Honour campaign.

Those nominated must live in Fareham and have made a difference to the lives of local people.  Previous winners have been nominated for bravery, helping others at school or college, coping with something life-changing, helping the local environment or caring for an individual.

For 2022 there will be two categories: the Young Citizen of Honour Award for residents up to and including 17 years of age, and the Citizen of Honour Award for those aged 18 and over.

The deadline for nominations for both categories is 23:59 on Monday 31 January 2022.  Nominations for anyone who does not live in the Borough or who has previously received an award from the Council, will not be accepted unless the nomination is for something completely unrelated to the previous Award.

There will be one winner in each category who will each:

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward, said: ‘Previous years’ nominations have shown us that we have some really wonderful people in Fareham who transform the lives of those around them in a variety of ways.  Our Citizen of Honour Awards is one way you can let them know how much their actions mean to you by nominating them for this prestigious award.’

Entries must be received by 23:59 on Monday 31 January 2022.  You can make your nomination on our website at www.fareham.gov.uk/COH.  Please remember, nominations for those who have previously received a Citizen of Honour, or Covid Hero Award, will be discounted unless the new nomination is for something completely unrelated.
