Press Release

18 March 2022

Spring Clean for the Queen

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen marked her Platinum Jubilee, following an extraordinary 70 years of service. Fareham has arranged a programme of events throughout the year to celebrate this significant Royal milestone and is calling on local residents to help the Borough look its best.

The Council would like to invite local people, community groups and anti-littering legends to take part in a Borough-wide litter picking event, as part of the national ‘Spring Clean for The Queen’ campaign, which runs from 25 March until 1 April.

The Council can provide participants with litter pickers and bin bags should they need them and will also arrange for the bags to be collected. Residents are reminded to recycle items where possible and not to leave bags by the side of rubbish bins as these can be spread far and wide by weather and wildlife.

If you would like to take part, please email publicspacesfrontline@fareham.gov.uk or call 01329 236100.

Executive Member for Streetscene at Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Ian Bastable, said: “Fareham is an area of unique beauty with beaches, countryside and lots of recreation spaces. The Spring Clean for the Queen event ties in with our own anti-littering campaign which was launched earlier this year and is a perfect opportunity to spruce up the Borough in time for our Platinum Jubilee celebrations. I encourage residents to take up their litter pickers and get involved.”
