Station Road Development Underway in Portchester

Fareham Housing is pleased to announce that work is progressing well at its Station Road development in Portchester.

Following the recent revision of COVID restrictions, the Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward was joined today by the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Michael Ford, and Portchester Ward Councillors, to see the newly laid foundations for 16 new sheltered housing apartments for older residents.

The new development has benefitted from a financial gift from the Cremer Cottages Trust and will therefore be named ‘Sir Randal Cremer House’ in recognition of the charity’s Nobel Prize winning forebearer.

On completion, Sir Randal Cremer House will consist 12 one-bedroom and four two-bedrooms apartments and is expected to be occupied initially by tenants from the nearby Assheton Court which is also due to be redeveloped. The apartments will then be let at an affordable rent for older people on the Council’s Housing Register.

Executive Member for Housing at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Fred Birkett, said: “This development will provide much needed sheltered housing for older residents across the Borough. Sir Randal Cremer House will offer more quality homes for those who really need them, and every care has been taken to ensure that the design provides comfort for residents.”
