Community funding available for local groups

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce that community groups are able to apply for a new allocation of funding through its Community Fund.

The Council has an allocation towards community funding that is renewed every year, and this fund currently stands at £95,300. Charitable organisations can apply for funds of up to £5,000 to cover a small capital project, such as equipment or small building improvements, or for a contribution towards a larger project. There is also the opportunity to apply for revenue funding to help new community organisations become established in their first year.

In the last financial year, the Council was delighted to be able to award community funding to various groups in the Borough, including:

•    Stop Domestic Abuse - £4,999 towards carpets and curtains for the Fareham Refuge
•    3rd Portchester Scouts - £4,999 towards kayaks and paddleboards
•    Locks Heath Colts Cricket Club - £2,244.99 for a practice bowling/batting tunnel
•    Abshot Community Association - £15,000 towards a replacement floor for their main hall
•    1st Warsash Sea Scouts - £15,000 towards their Headquarter refurbishment
•    Dinky Tinkers - £2,880.67 to set up their new parent/toddler group
•    Titchfield Village Trust - £10,000 towards solar panels for the Titchfield Parish Rooms.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Mrs Sue Walker said:

“Community funding is incredibly important for our local community. It has made possible the Fareham Community Lottery, which has raised more than £43,000 for 69 different good causes across the Borough so far. When Fareham residents sign up to the Community Lottery, not only do they have the chance to win cash prizes, but their ticket purchases help to put money back into the Community Fund itself, which in turn benefits further community projects.”
