Fareham in Bloom competition entries open

Green-fingered residents are invited to enter Fareham Borough Council’s virtual Fareham in Bloom competition.

Entries can be submitted now until the closing date on Friday 8 July. After entries close, the public will be asked to vote for their favourite photo in each category. A member of the judging panel, along with a community volunteer, will then visit the two gardens that receive the highest number of votes from the public in five of the six categories. Entries in the ‘Something Small’ category will not receive a visit and instead will be judged purely on the photo and description submitted.

The six categories are:

1.    Best Garden – A garden of any size, front or back
2.    Commercial – Shop fronts, pubs, businesses and schools
3.    Something Small - Hanging baskets, window boxes or unusual garden features
4.    Community Floral Display - Your street, community centre or sheltered housing grounds
5.    Young Green Fingers – Something the children have planted or grown
6.    Sustainable Garden – Planting to encourage wildlife, grow your own veg, recycling materials and using minimal resources

The winner of each category, along with one guest, will be invited to a tea party in the Mayor’s Parlour on Wednesday 26 October to receive their prize.

Executive Member for Streetscene at Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Ian Bastable, said:

“It was fantastic to see so many residents enter the virtual competition last year and we are delighted to be able to bring garden visits back into the judging process this year. Fareham in Bloom has been giving residents the opportunity to showcase their outstanding gardens for over 25 years and, whatever the size of your outdoor space, I urge you to get those entries in!”
