Press Release

4 July 2022

Get ready for a summer of fun!

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce that activities for children of all ages will be taking place throughout the summer holidays in the Borough.

During August, Thumbs Up Friday will take place every Friday in the gardens at Westbury Manor Museum. Children under 11 years can enjoy a different free activity each week, including Lego building and a circus workshop. There is no need to book, just come along on the day and remember that under-11s must be accompanied by an adult.

In addition, Play Day is back this year and will host a range of woodland themed activities for all the family on 17 August at Holly Hill Woodland Park from 11:30am to 3:30pm. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy a day in the woods while taking part in activities such as den-building, a music workshop and making a bird feeder. Tickets must be bought in advance, and these will be on sale from Monday 4 July.

For older children, the ever-popular Access All Areas scheme commences its 2022 programme in August, which includes paddleboarding, motorcycling, Top Rock Climbing and much more!  Young people aged 11 to 16 years must be registered in advance by a parent or guardian.

Information about these and other events and activities happening in the Borough can be found on the Council’s events page: https://www.fareham.gov.uk/events including those provided by Everyone Active, Westbury Manor Museum, Hampshire libraries, Y Services and Fareham Shopping Centre. For more information about these events please contact the Leisure and Community Team on 01329 236100 or email leisure@fareham.gov.uk.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Sue Walker, said:

“These events provide wonderful opportunities for children and their families to enjoy exciting activities throughout the summer. Play Day and Thumbs up Friday both celebrate the importance of outdoor play in children’s lives, while Access All Areas gives older children experiences to remember."

“Remember to check our events page regularly to find out about everything that is going on for families in the Borough this summer.”
