Fareham in Bloom competition - final week for entries

There is only one week remaining for residents to submit their entries to Fareham Borough Council’s virtual Fareham in Bloom community gardening competition.

Entries for the competition close on Friday 8 July, with the judging panel due to visit the top-voted outdoor spaces in August. There is a prize in each category, with the winner of Best Garden receiving a year’s FREE subscription to the Council’s garden waste collection service.

With six categories to choose from, there is something for everyone, regardless of the size of your outdoor space:

•    Best Garden: A garden of any size, front or back
•    Commercial: Shop fronts, pubs, businesses and schools
•    Something Small: Hanging baskets, window boxes or unusual garden features
•    Community Floral Display: Your street, community centre or sheltered housing grounds
•    Young Green Fingers: Something the children have planted or grown
•    Sustainable Garden: Planting to encourage wildlife, grow your own fruit or vegetables, recycling materials and using minimal resources

Entrants simply need to complete a short online form with a brief description and upload one photograph of their entry by Friday 8 July. Entry is free and open to anyone who lives or has a business in the Borough.

In October, winners will be presented with a prize and certificate at a special reception in the Mayor’s Parlour at the Civic Offices in Fareham.

Executive Member for Streetscene at Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Ian Bastable, said:

“We’ve received some fantastic entries to this competition in the last few weeks, and we know that residents and local businesses work hard to create some wonderful displays. If you have an outdoor space to be proud of, make sure you get your entry in before the closing date!”
