Affordable Housing Development Underway in Fareham

Fareham Housing were delighted to welcome Cllr Connie Hockley, Executive Member for Housing, and Cllr Woodward, Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council to the development at Queens Road, Fareham today. The build started in early June this year and both Councillors were keen to visit and see the progress made.

Located in Fareham town centre, the development at Queens Road will deliver two three-bedroom homes.  These houses will be made available at a Social Rent (the most affordable of affordable homes) and will be occupied by households from Fareham Borough Council’s housing register.

Fareham Housing is working with Southampton based Daintree Developments to deliver this project. The homes have been specifically designed to reflect the character of the area as well as being wheelchair accessible and energy efficient. Features will include solar PV panels and air source heat pumps to provide heating and hot water, supporting the Council's commitment to be carbon neutral across its buildings and services by 2030.

Cllr Connie Hockley also took the opportunity to visit two nearby Council owned properties at Arundel Drive. These are being converted to five-bedroom homes with disabled accessible bedrooms and a downstairs wet room.

Larger properties, particularly those which are disabled accessible, rarely become available. These new homes will help to meet the specific needs for some of the larger families on the Council’s Housing Register.

Executive Member for Housing at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Connie Hockley, said: “There is a real need for affordable housing in Fareham, so we are thrilled that this new development is progressing so well. We are excited to be working with Daintree Developments to develop these future-proof, low energy homes on Queen’s Road, as well as those accessible properties on Arundel Drive, which are so needed in the Borough. I’m looking forward to seeing the final developments ready for residents from our housing register as soon as possible.”
