Westbury Manor Museum to be lit pink and blue for Baby Loss Awareness Week

Fareham Borough Council will be marking ‘Baby Loss Awareness Week’ by working with Hampshire Cultural Trust to light Westbury Manor Museum in pink and blue from 9 to 15 October.

Baby Loss Awareness Week, now in its 20th year, is an opportunity for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together to remember and commemorate much-loved and missed babies.

This year Baby Loss Awareness Week will be exploring the theme of ‘stepping stones’, representing the way in which someone whose baby has died finds themselves unexpectedly on a new path. The week also provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the impact of pregnancy and baby loss, the importance that bereavement support plays in the ongoing bereavement journey and of the vital work that is needed to improve pregnancy outcomes and to save babies’ lives.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward, said:

“We are proud to be supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week in its 20th year. In 2021, over 200 buildings and landmarks were lit up across the country in support of the campaign, and I am delighted that Westbury Manor Museum will be one of those taking part this year.

“I hope turning Westbury Manor Museum pink and blue will spark conversations about baby loss and give local bereaved parents and families an opportunity to talk about their precious babies, and to reach out to the support available to them.”

Baby Loss Awareness Week is recognised across the world and culminates with the ‘Wave of Light’ on 15 October. You can find out more at the Baby Loss Awareness website: https://babyloss-awareness.org/.
