Press Release

17 October 2022

Apply for free home energy improvements this Energy Saving Week

Fareham Borough Council is pleased to be supporting Energy Saving Week, from 17-23 October, by offering eligible residents the opportunity to receive up to £25,000 of home energy improvements for free.

Energy Saving Week is a countrywide initiative aimed at helping people lower their home energy costs. One of the best ways to reduce energy costs is to make your home more energy efficient, but this can often be a costly process. The Warmer Homes programme, launched last month, offers these energy-efficiency improvements to eligible homes for no fee.

Funding is available until March 2023, for efficiency measures such as improved insulation, air source heat pumps or solar PV panels.  If your home is connected to the gas network, funding of up to £10,000 is available. If your home is not on the gas network, funding of up to £25,000 is available.

The Warmer Homes programme is available to owner occupiers and private rental tenants, and you can find more information at www.fareham.gov.uk/warmerhomes

Executive Member for Planning and Development Cllr Simon Martin said: “Energy Saving Week helps to promote small changes which can make a big difference to your energy bills. At a time when energy costs are soaring, every little helps, but we have found a way to make big changes to help Fareham residents in a more significant way. Not only does the Warmer Homes programme directly help residents to reduce their energy bills, but it will also reduce the carbon emissions of the wider Borough, which is fantastic.”
