Fareham Live Beam Signing

9 February 2023

Councillors sign off fly tower at Fareham Live

Fareham Borough Councillors were delighted to visit the Fareham Live site once again today and add their signatures to a steel panel, which was raised into place to form part of the fly tower structure.

The fly tower is an important design feature for Fareham’s new Community Arts and Entertainment venue as it allows stage components such as curtains, lights, scenery, special effects and, sometimes, people, to be lifted off the stage quickly, quietly and safely.

Councillors from the Fareham Live working group, responsible for overseeing the project, were invited to add their names to one of the panels before the steel works are completed and the schedule of works continues on track for opening in early 2024.

John Papworth, Regional Commercial Director at Neilcott Construction said: “As the fly tower steel frame is completed, you can really see the final shape and structure of the finished venue. It’s a really good time to show Councillors the huge amount of progress we have made so far and allow them to add their signatures into the structure for posterity.”

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Mrs Sue Walker, added: “It was lovely to see the progress which has been made on the venue today and add our signatures to the impressive steel framework. The fly tower will be so important to the venue as it will allow bigger, better and more impressive shows to take place in the theatre and attract visitors into Fareham from surrounding areas. I am looking forward to our next visit as this go-to venue continues to take shape.”
