Fareham residents who would like to hold a street party to the celebrate The King's Coronation are now able to apply to Fareham Borough Council.

The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May 2023.

Street parties which require road closures during the Coronation Weekend, between Saturday 6 and Monday 8 May, must be considered by the Council, to ensure the street is suitable and safe. The closing date for applications is Friday 24 March.

The Council will only permit closures where:

Councillor Joanne Burton, Executive Member for Health and Public Protection said: “The Coronation Weekend will provide a fantastic opportunity to celebrate with loved ones and spend time with friends, family and the wider community. Street parties are always popular to commemorate such momentous occasions, so I encourage residents to apply early.”

For streets which are not suitable for street parties, there are plenty of other ways to get involved, including community events, volunteering opportunities and much more.
