Press Release

6 March 2023

Have your say on play areas in Fareham

Fareham Borough Council is making improvements to three play areas in the Borough and would like to hear residents’ views on how they could be made better.

As part of a five-year programme of improvements to fifteen play areas, running up to 2028, three are expected to be upgraded this year. A public consultation has been launched so that residents can have their say on the proposed improvements. The three play areas are:

•    Seafield Park, Illustrious Road, Hill Head
•    Badgers Copse, junction of Badgers Copse and Squirrel Close, Park Gate
•    Fielding Road, Whiteley

Where necessary, existing equipment will be repainted and surfaces repaired, but new play equipment could be installed to make the play areas more inclusive and interactive.

The consultation will close on 31 March and residents can give their views here: www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations. Please note that there is a separate survey for each play area, and residents are welcome to comment on all three.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Walker, said:

“I would encourage children and anyone with caring responsibilities for children in Fareham to have their say on the proposals for these play areas. Outdoor play is vital for a child’s health and wellbeing and allows them to socialise with other children. We are asking for your views on how to deliver what children need to keep them fit, sociable and engaged.”
